YOU are a Miracle!

Did you remember to make the appropriate amount of digestive enzymes after inhaling that Whopper this afternoon? What about remembering to increase your white blood cell production after hanging out at that concert with 100 other people last night? You forgot? Bummer.😮🍔🩸

Wait, wait, wait…..you don’t have to remember to do that. Your body just does it. On it’s own. Without you having to remember. Which is pretty damn awesome cause’ if I had to remember to increase the oxygen in my blood as I move through my HIIT workout I’d be screwed.🥺💪🔥

Your body is a chatty Cathy. It’s constantly communicating with itself to the tune of approximately 6 billion impulses exchanged per second. And every impulse is aware of every other impulse.

We are so impressed with technology these days; and rightly so. However, have you ever considered the miracle that is you?🙌✨🖱️

Let’s look at some crazy factoids. And since I work with the nervous system, we’ll start by focusing on that. Consider:

  • There are more nerve cells in the brain than there are stars in the milky way🧠

  • If all the neurons in the body are lined up they would go over 600 miles long

  • Our brain has 100 billion neurons alone and there are about 13.5 million neurons in the human spinal cord✔️

  • A newborn baby’s brain grows to as much as triple its size during it’s first year.

  • The left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and right side of the brain controls the left side of the body➡️⬅️

  • About 75% of the brain is made up of water

  • A newborn baby brain loses about half of it’s nerve cells before it is born👶🍼

  • The nervous system can transmit nerve impulses as fast as 100 meters per second

  • As our age increases, the brain loses a gram each year🔞🤯🧠

  • At a given time, only 4% of the cells in the brain are active, the rest kept in reserve.

  • Our body produces 25 million new cells each second🦠❤️

  • The brain uses 20% of the oxygen and blood in the body

I could go on and on with these amazing facts about the body. Again, we don’t have to think about this stuff; our body just does it.😮💦🗯️

Great. Who cares? What’s your point? Well, here’s my point; so often I hear people making disparaging remarks about their bodies.

“This body is getting old. It gives me nothing but trouble.”👴👵😵‍💫

“It just doesn’t work how it used to. I’d be great if it wasn’t for this damn arm!”

Most of our lives are spent taking our body and our health for granted. The vast majority of us only consider our bodies when they aren’t doing what we’d like them to do.🧭⚕️⏲️

Have you ever just sat back and offered gratitude that, at this moment, you’re able to breathe? Or see? Or taste? Or smell? Or smile?

My mom used to have asthma. We lived on a farm and we were constantly exposed to dust. My mom would spontaneously have asthma attacks and everyone would freak out trying to find mom’s “wheezer” (inhaler) so she wouldn’t die.💨🚜🌻

She’d be lying on the floor, turning blue in the face, grasping for air as her four kids and husband desperately try to find the wheezer that was never in the same place.

My mom doesn’t have asthma anymore. The combination of changing her diet up and pursuing various natural health care remedies slowly shifted things for her. She ran a half marathon when she turned 60. She currently does Crossfit type workouts daily.🏃‍♀️👟🥦

My point; don’t take anything that’s currently working properly in your body for granted.

Having gratitude for anything that’s serving you now is a great daily practice.✨🙏

Even if it’s as basic as not having something lodged in your eye. Ever have anything stuck in your eye? What’s more annoying than that? I guess not being able to breathe might be more annoying that that.

Your body is a miracle!!! YOU are a miracle!!!✨❤️🔥
