In gradeschool I was the 2nd fastest kid in my class. I could never beat Jason Werner. Very competitive kid; I really hated losing. 🏅🏆🏋️♀️ I played any sport I had access to; which wasn't much. I grew up in a small town called Stockton, IL; population 2,000. My high school graduating class had 33 people in it. So that meant we played volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track in the spring. Those were our only sport options so naturally I played all of these sports. I didn't play these sports with any kind of skill or grace. I fouled out of every basketball game I ever played. I was a bit of a "flesh magnet." I did lead the team in rebounds my sophmore year of high school at the intimidating height of 5'1. If you know anything about basketball, bascally that means that I figured out how to "create space" under the hoop :)⛹️♀️🏀🤕 What I really wanted to play was football. Girls didn't play football in the 90's. These days they do. A friend of mine's daughter plays high school football. I understand she actually holds her own quite well!
So anyhoo, my older brother heads off to college and discovers the sport of rugby. I attend one of his matches and am intrigued. After the game he exclaims, "you know, they let girls play this sport too!"🏉🧑🏫
Receiving this information impacted my entire life trajectory. My college choice depended largely on the fact that they had a club women's rugby team. Thus began my 17 year rugby career.
How does one who plays such a ridiculously violent sport become attracted to the extremely gentle healing technique of Network Spinal, you may ask?💣❤️🩹
I was asked this very question by my long time friend Della Webb who I recently had a conversation with on her new podcast "Conversations with Della". If you'd like to hear the answer to that question, tune in to our conversation.
The entire conversation is about 35 minutes long, so if you don't have the time or the inclination to listen to the whole thing, just catch the beginning as she leads the conversation off with this question. Click HERE to listen.🕰️🎤🦜
Della has many gifts. Several pieces of her artwork hang in our office. She's also a yoga instructor offering classes on zoom, as well as an intuitive healer.
